 | Medicine Hat started the Hat Smart program to help citizens invest in energy efficiency and renewable energy solutions to begin the process of creating a more sustainable energy supply. The program provided support for both energy efficiency measures such as insulation, new efficient furnaces and even clothes washers and renewable energy measures such as solar and geothermal. The program worked so well solar panels started springing up all over the City of 61000 and Medicine Hat experienced three times the participation rates of other cities in provincial and federal rebate programs.
