Up until then, all forms of energy available to businesses and consumers was heavily regulated by the government. That was until House Bill 1509 was introduced to the state legislator. This bill, titled the Electricity Generation Customer Choice and Competition Act, led the way for the beginning of energy deregulation in the state of Pennsylvania. While the passage of this bill saw immediate implications and the breaking down of energy monopolies, the deregulation of energy wasn't officially completed until 2000. This led to hundreds of thousands of Pennsylvania residents switching their electric energy carriers in order to find the lowest prices for their energy needs. While the deregulation of energy provided by House Bill 1509 was officially completed in 2000, the full freedom of deregulation was actually completed on December 31 <b>...</b>
